EssilorLuxottica is Empowering Kids with Summer Eye Protection
3 min

With the 2024 Kids Category Summer Campaign, parents are gaining awareness and taking action to protect their children’s visual health in the sun with innovative and trusted solutions as well as stylish sunglass options from EssilorLuxottica.

With summer around the corner, EssilorLuxottica is leading the way when it comes to sun eyewear for children through its ‘See It To Believe It’ Kids Category Summer campaign.

The campaign is helping educate parents to provide kids with UV eye protection to ensure their vision remains bright and boundless. Symbolizing the warmth of the sun, it features vibrant visuals set against a yellow backdrop with the key message ‘Children’s eyes need extra care in the sun’, as a reminder to prioritize eye protection during outdoor activities.

EssilorLuxottica’s Kids Category offer delivers summer sunglass styles from Ray-Ban, Oakley and Vogue Eyewear that include UV protection adapted for children.

Children’s Visual Health: Protecting Young Eyes from the Sun's Effects

Children's eyes are particularly vulnerable to UV damage due to their clearer crystalline lenses and the cumulative impact of sun exposure over time can be significant(1).

While many parents are familiar with general sun safety guidelines, the specific significance of sunglasses might not always be top of mind(2). Studies suggest that there is an opportunity to enhance parental understanding and prioritize discussions about the importance of sunglasses for their children(3). Moreover, there is a notable willingness among parents to support their children in wearing sunglasses once they grasp the increased risks associated with UV exposure(4).

By partnering with parents and providing them with the information and resources they need, we can collectively work toward ensuring the well-being and safety of children in the sun.
